Janet keeps getting better with age…

Singer/Actress Janet Jackson sat down to talk both about her secret marriage, her possible X Factor job offer, and her feelings about Whitney Houston’s death. Janet is in a unique position to offer solace and advice to Houston’s surviving family, having recently lost her brother Michael.

Both performers (Whitney, Michael) were larger than life personalities who managed to become among the biggest stars in the history of music. And both have left a huge hole in the world they’ve left behind. How does one come out from under that?

“It sounds so mean, but you have to move on,” Janet said of the Houston family. “You can’t hold onto that, because it can be very devastating. And sometimes therapy is the best thing.”

Anderson Cooper asked her about those “X Factor” rumors, but Jackson played coy.

Clearly, there’s something more going on with the story, so it’s likely Jackson is at least in talks and at most in full negotiations to join Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid on the judging panel. It would certainly make for an exciting addition to the show.

Janet’s chef consultant, Andre Carthen, shared personal recipes he prepares for Janet, which keep her looking so good. Plus, Janet’s longtime personal trainer, Tony Martinez, who Janet credits for her amazing body transformation, shared his secrets for looking good.

Later in the show, Janet surprised a dance team who thought they were dancing off against a Madonna dance team. Their reactions when she walked out on stage was priceless…

In the past 6 months, Anderson Cooper has seen his ratings rise above Wendy Williams and Steve Wilkos in the talk-show pecking order, but behind rivals Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, Ellen DeGeneres and Kelly Ripa.

Still, Cooper and his staff are fighting and believe they have turned a corner.

Subject matter varies widely on “Anderson” in much the same way as it did on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Interviews with Janet Jackson, Madonna and Angelina Jolie dominated recent hours. Topical segments ranged from extreme child discipline and the Penn State child sex scandal to advice on removing clutter and healthy cooking.
