Over the weekend, Mitt Romney won Maine. Mitt Romney had 39% of the vote, while Ron Paul followed close behind with 36% of the vote.  Ron Paul continues to be the only GOP candidate not to win a state in the campaign so far.  However his 0 to 9 losing streak does not discourage Paul. He states after the results were revealed, “The momentum is going to continue, we’re not going away. We’re going to be in all these places where we’re going to pick up, continue to pick up the delegates, for one good reason — we have the message that America needs at this particular time.”

After Romney lost last Tuesday in Missouri, Colorado, and Minnesota to Rick Santorum, he campaigned very hard in Maine.  Romney told voters in Sanford, “I believe I’m the one person in this race who actually can beat this president. I believe it’s essential that we beat this president. That we take America back and that we keep America as it’s always been — the hope of the earth.”

The GOP Race heats up as candidates focus in on Arizona and Michigan. The next primary will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012.
