Reality TV Star Omarosa Manigualt-Stallworth is practically synonymous with reality TV drama.
Omarosa got her start on NBC reality show “The Apprentice” before going on to appear on more than 20 shows including Surreal Life, Fear Factor, Girls Behaving Badly, Celebrity Apprentice, and TVOne reality dating show “The Ultimate Merger”. Now she’ll put all that knowledge to good use when she takes on a new role as West Coast Editor of Reality Weekly Magazine. The publication launched its premiere issue and site on Jan. 2 and focuses solely on reality television shows and stars.
“It’s so interesting because I know reality television inside and out. And sometimes when I’m sitting in meetings they call me the ‘reality encyclopedia,’ because I’ve been in reality since early on,” she explained. “I think I have more of a historical perspective, and I have amazing relationships with people in reality as well, from producers, directors, camera guys, fellow reality cast mates, networks, publicists…. And I’ve done 20-plus reality shows.”
She says her established relationship with the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Richard Spencer and its publishing company, American Media, Inc., helped her land the new job. As part of the Reality Weekly team, she will attend red carpet events, show premieres, appear as the magazine’s on-air correspondent for other news sources and work for the company’s other publications such as Star, OK!, National Enquirer, Globe and Men’s Fitness.
“My Bachelor’s degree is in journalism, so I got the core and the gift of learning how to be a good writer,” she said. “At the center of all this entertainment stuff is good writing, so I’m very, very blessed to have that foundation. I’m not just the West Coast editor, I actually pitch and cover stories for the magazine, so I’ve been able to use my background in journalism and apply it to this new position. But I think the most important thing that I bring to the table is relationships.”
Ironically, in 2009, Omarosa enrolled in the United Theological Seminary in Ohio to pursue a Doctor of Ministry degree.
