Actor/DJ Nick Cannon has updated fans on his situation. He tweeted last night:

“Currently being transfered to a hospital in LA. Thank you all for all your love, prayers and concern. You know me… I will be a’ight”

Nick was hospitalized in Aspen, where he and wife Marey Carey were spending the holidays with their twins, Roc and Roe. Carey posted an note on her website, saying he was suffering “mild kidney failure.”

Friends and fans have been tweeting well-wishes.

Dr. Bryan Becker, the past immediate president of the National Kidney Foundation, tells People that “mild kidney failure” is likely caused by “an illness of some sort or taking an over-the-counter medication like Motrin or Advil. It could also be due to dehydration.” He says pneumonia or stomach problems that decrease fluid could be the culprit.

No matter what, the prognosis is usually good, says Becker. If it’s fluid-related, he’ll recover “very quickly.” And if it’s related to medication or an illness it’ll take a little longer.
