Jordan has not hit the court in years, but people are still going bananas about his sneakers. On Friday December 23, Jordan re released the white and patent leather Concords. Reports went out quickly that people were waiting in line for hours, rushing and breaking the doors, fights breaking out and that one man actually died over his purchase of the popular shoe. Well police in DC, Maryland and Virginia state there were no murders over the shoes.

Supposedly this is a rumor that first started on Facebook and spread quickly. The man that allegedly died is Tyreek Amir Jacobs. His picture was even posted on the social media site and people posted on the wall and talked about how we are materialistic and people’s life should not be at stake. Well the Tyreek in the picture is not from DC, but from London and and his name is Sidney Boahen. The picture is a stock photo that was taken five years ago. Sidney called into the Baltimore Sun, to let people know he was alive and that he was not Tyreek Jacobs.

So the question is did Tyreek Jacobs really die over Jordan Concords or was this just an internet hoax to add to the hype of the shoe’s release? What do you think?
