It’s a rare trick that not many have pulled.  That’s because not many possess the magic to make it happen, but Goochland native Justin Verlander does, and he’s mastered the art of pitching in the major leagues.  The former ODU star and current Detroit Tigers hero had already picked up the trophy most coveted by MLB pitchers, the Cy Young award.  Now, the local kid wins the American League’s Most Valuable Player award as well.  Wow!  That is HUGE.  The last time that occurred in the AL was 1992, as pitchers hardly ever win the MVP, a reward usually handed out to Golden Glovers and Home Run kings.  Reppin’ VA in a major way, congratulations to Justin Verlander, baseball superstar…..
