TV execs say that Soap Operas are a losing cause because of reality TV and mother’s going back to work and not staying at home anymore. Soap Opera fan state that’s not true because they record their “soaps” and or watch them online. They believe that Nielsen, the company responsible for tracking ratings, arent recording nor getting information from Soap fanatics. Out of the four Soap Operas’ left on afternoon TV only one is staying on board, General Hospital. Is it because it’s the closest to being a version of reality TV because they can use real life issues as substance.
