Best known for her tenure as lead anchor on BET Nightly News, Jacque Reid will be co-anchoring the evening news for a local station in New York City.

Reid joins the team at LX TV’s “New York Live”, the 5 p.m. news show that is the channel’s first after work summary of the day’s events. The show is a new addition to LX’s lineup and was given a test run yesterday afternoon online. Though it had its glitches, hopefully, they will be cleaned up in time for the show’s official debut Monday, September 12th.

LX executives say they hope for “New York Live” to have a strong emphasis on advocacy pieces, a focus that should bring out the best in Reid. The anchor and Northwestern University J-school graduate has made appearances on several major networks from NBC to CBS.

Though she most remembered for anchoring BET Nightly News between 2001 and 2005, she also made an impact covering the 2004 Republican National Convention for CNN. She appeared on the cable network’s morning show and expanded into morning talk with a stint on The View.

Prior to the move to LX, Reid co hosted the widely syndicated D.L Hughley Morning Show from New York’s 98.7 KISS FM. In recent years, she had appeared on the VH1 show, “Let’s Talk About Pep” with her friend, Sandra Denton aka “Pep” of Salt-N-Pepa.
