Former NFL player and current Flint Northwestern coach Andre Rison has been indicted by a federal grand jury in a child-support case in Arizona.

The indictment accuses Rison, 44, of failing to pay more than $10,000 between August 2008 and last month.

A federal court has jurisdiction because Rison now lives in Mt. Morris, Michigan near Flint. He has been summoned to appear on Sept. 14 in U.S. District Court in Phoenix.

The indictment says the due date for his payments passed two years ago. The child lived in Arizona at the time the payments were due. No further information on the child was immediately available.

Rison played 12 years in the NFL for the Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, and was a five-time Pro Bowler. He also won a Superbowl ring with the Green Bay Packers in 1996.

But Andre Rison is also remembered for his life off the football field for his on-again/off-again relationship with the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes of the R&B group TLC. In 1994, his Atlanta mansion was burned down by “Left Eye” Lopes, resulting in the loss of all his possessions. Despite the damage done, they still remained a couple. In 2001 he recorded a song with her entitled “Rags To Riches” which can be heard on YouTube. Their relationship was off and on until her death in 2002.
