A 16-year-old California teenager picked the wrong car to pelt with rocks.
The San Diego teenager was shot in the gut with a crossbow bolt after he and a pal threw rocks at a passing car, police said.
The shirtless teenager and his friend had flung a rock at a black Toyota RAV4 at around 2:15 p.m. on Monday when a passenger pulled out a crossbow and fired, police told the San Diego Union Tribune.
The bolt – the deadly projectile fired by crossbows – pierced the boy in the right side of his belly, cops said.
The teenager was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries, the newspaper said. His name was not released.
Cops think two Latino males were riding in the SUV, but they have not made any arrests.
