Richmond, VA – Operation of the free GRTC City Supermarket Shuttle service that started Tuesday, August 30, 2011, and continued Wednesday, August 31, 2011, will be extended through Thursday and Friday, September 1 and 2.

GRTC Transit System will continue to run shuttle buses from seven (7) locations around the Richmond Metro Area to area supermarkets to assist Richmond residents who are unable to get to the market for groceries as a result of storm damage from Hurricane Irene. The GRTC City Supermarket Shuttle will be free to the riders.

Buses will board passengers at specific locations and transport them to nearby supermarkets. The bus operator will wait for 35 – 40 minutes while passengers make their purchases. Then the buses will deliver passengers to their original stop. Buses will repeat this routine throughout the scheduled service time.

Bus #2 Frederick Faye Towers, First & Hospital Streets

10:00 am, 11:10 am, 12:15 pm, 1:10 pm, 2:15 pm – Transport to the Kroger – Lombardy & Broad

Bus #3 Boarding at two (2) locations – Transport to Food Lion on Mechanicsville Turnpike

Creighton Court Management Office, 2101 Creighton Road

10:00 am, 11:20 am, 12:30 pm, 1:45 pm

Fairfield Court Management Office, 2506 Phaup Street

We request that the public be patient. Depending upon the time of day and traffic, riders may experience delays. These shuttles will be operated as quickly as safety permits.
