A 4.2-magnitude earthquake rumbled through central Virginia at 8:04 p.m. Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The “aftershock” quake came about six hours after a 5.8 quake with a Mineral epicenter rocked most of the East Coast.

The aftershock was felt throughout the region, from at least southern Chesterfield County to Short Pump.

Tuesday night’s quake was also in Mineral, where two smaller aftershocks – 2.8 and 2.2 magnitude – were centered at 6:46 p.m. and 7:20 p.m., respectively.
