Shocking news from the University of Richmond campus where Spiders head football coach Latrell Scott has resigned, effective immediately from the position following his arrest on a DWI in Henrico County on Monday night. The Spiders are scheduled to open the 2011 football season next Saturday in Durham at Duke University. This is Scott’s second DWI in seven years, a fact the school was aware of when they hired him in 2009. Offensive Coordinator Wayne Lineburg will become Richmond’s new head coach for this season, and will conduct a search for a new coach once the season is complete. University of Richmond officials called the resignation “uncomplicated, but difficult”.
