Miss Community Clovia had the chance to check in on Richmond Mayor, Dwight C. Jones and shed some light on some of the initiatives he’s been working on around the city. Mayor Dwight C. Jones discusses the “First Fridays Art Walk” and the impact it has on the city and the community.

Over the last ten years, First Fridays has celebrated the City of Richmond’s thriving arts and cultural community.  City residents and tourist come to Downtown Richmond to view popular arts, take pleasure in cultural program showcases, listen to music and enjoy the many festivals.  In light of recent complaints about teenage behavior at these events, event organizers have opted to take a holiday from First Fridays during the Labor Day weekend.

The City of Richmond would like to open a discussion for comments, suggestions and ideas about how to help ensure the continues enjoyment of First Fridays Art Walk and to make sure First Fridays is here for years to come.  First Fridays invites a diverse group to the heart of Richmond, and everyone should embrace the creativity and positivity.  Let us work together and find ways to move forward and continue to spotlight the talent this great city as to offer.

Residents, businesses and patrons of First Fridays are encouraged to submit their comments, suggestions and ideas on how to ensure the continues enjoyment of the event by visiting www.richmondgov.com and clicking on the “First Fridays” article under the Announcement section.
