The Georgetown Hoyas basketball team is touring China, and played an exhibition yesterday versus a Chinese professional team in a game that ended in a brawl with fans throwing bottles and chairs while players were throwing punches. Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III had to pull his team off the court once the melee broke out. This reportedly is not new in China as rowdy fans and teams have become a part of the norm. The team the Hoyas played yesterday has been fined repeatedly by international organizations according to reports for continued on-court fighting. The Chinese team shot 57 free throws in a game that was halfway through the 4th quarter. Georgetown shot only 15. That’s a recipe for frustration.
