Sarah Palin has become a grandmother for the second time, according to reporter Joe McGinniss, who is writing a book on the former vice presidential candidate.

Palin’s eldest son, Track, and his wife, Britta, welcomed a baby girl named Kyla Grace Palin on Sunday night, reports McGinniss, who moved next door to the Palins’s Alaska home in 2010 to gain better access to the family.

According to McGinniss, Track Palin was married 3 months ago (in May 2011). The couple were high school sweethearts. And while neither Sarah, nor Todd Palin, ever officially confirmed Britta’s pregnancy, pictures of her baby shower surfaced on Facebook.

Critics of Sarah Palin say her views of “teach abstinence only” to teenagers, instead of safe sex, is antiquated and out-of-touch. They tout her 2 out-of-wedlock grandchildren as examples that teaching safe sex and distributing condoms is beneficial.

The former Britta Hanson was once roommates with her husband’s younger sister, Bristol, in Anchorage, and served as an executive secretary in the governor’s office, when her mother-in-law was governor of Alaska.

Neither Todd Palin, nor a rep for the Palin family responded to requests for comment.
