Christopher Schwarzenegger, the 13-year-old son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, has been hospitalized following a serious accident.

The accident occurred while Chris was boogie boarding on Sunday, when something went wrong and he suffered a collapsed lung, multiple broken bones and broken ribs. His mother was with him on the beach at the time of the accident.

“Christopher has been in ICU since Sunday,” a source says. “Maria has not left his side and is sleeping at hospital.”

Arnold has also visited Christopher in the hospital multiple times, but for the sake of Maria, has chosen not to spend the night.

Early Friday morning (July 22), older brother, Patrick, Tweeted an update, writing: “Thank you everyone for your messages about my brother. This kid is strongest kid I ever seen. Keep praying.”

Older sister, Katherine, also posted a message on Twitter: “Thank you guys for ur concern and prayers for my baby brother!” she wrote. “He’s a tough little guy and getting better! Please keep praying for him!”

It’s the latest headline for the Schwarzennger family, as earlier this week Arnold filed a response to Maria’s recent divorce petition, asking a court not to award his soon-to-be-ex with spousal support. Maria filed for divorce on July 1 citing irreconcilable differences.
