City officials in Petersburg recently rolled out the red carpet in welcoming Moses Malone home for a weekend visit. One of my closest friends, Moses, myself, and our classmate, Wayne Crocker, now the city’s Director of Library Services, posed for a pic outside the Mayor’s office. Representatives from the Police Dept., City Council, & School Board joined Mayor Brian Moore for a brief luncheon at Longstreet’s in Olde Towne Petersburg. The city is making plans to honor the former basketball superstar who left the city in 1974 as the first high school player to ever go directly to professional hoops.
