Sunday and Monday evenings, traffic detours will be in place for the fireworks celebrations in the city, Richmond police said Tuesday, according to The Richmond Times Dispatch.

On Sunday, the Lee Bridge will be closed from 5 to 10 p.m. to accommodate RVA Fireworks on the James, to be held on Brown’s Island.

Northbound access to the Lee Bridge will be closed at Semmes and Cowardin avenues. Southbound access will be closed at East Byrd and Belvidere streets.

For Monday’s Independence Day celebration at Byrd Park’s Dogwood Dell, police encouraged motorists to avoid the area and use shuttle buses from City Stadium at McCloy Street and Douglasdale Road.

The Boulevard will be closed to southbound traffic at Cary Street beginning at 7 p.m.,

Westover Hills Boulevard will be closed at Forest Hill Avenue to northbound traffic beginning at 7 p.m. The detour is west on Forest Hill Avenue to the Powhite Parkway or east on Forest Hill to the Lee Bridge.

Douglasdale between McCloy and Blanton Avenue will be closed and only used for shuttle buses from 4 to 11 p.m.

After the fireworks, northbound Boulevard traffic will be detoured east onto Interstate 195. Eastbound motorists will incur a 70-cent toll. Boulevard northbound will reopen 30 minutes after the fireworks have ended.

No parking will be allowed on grassy areas, medians, bridges or roadways. There will also be several areas where “No Parking” signs will be posted. Police said parking restrictions will be strictly enforced, with vehicles ticketed or towed.
