The Skyhawks of L C Bird HS in Chester have nothing to hang their heads about despite losing in their first ever appearance in the State Championship game. Bird lost to defending champs I C Norcom HS of Norfolk 54 – 45, which became only the sixth school in VHSL history to win back-to-back state titles. The Greyhounds were led by Dorian Finney-Smith, who’s headed to Virginia Tech next season. He had 19 points, 17 rebounds & 3 blocks. The city of Norfolk is home to both AAA State Champions this year as the young ladies of Princess Anne HS won the girls title. Congratulations to L C Bird on a great run, and a great season….
