A massive earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale hit Japan this morning causing a tsunami that saw waves sweep away cars and buildings. The quake was so strong that sirens have sounded in Hawaii for fear of a tsunami. As of 3 am EST, 5 people were known dead, but that number could rise rapidly as the day goes on and the threat of disaster still exists. Austrailia and Russia are also bracing for what is expected to be a huge tsunami surge. Subway systems have been shut down, and hundreds of thousands of people are being evacuated.
