Jada Pinkett Smith says spending time apart from husband Will Smith is the key to the success of their marriage, because she thinks it’s important for couples to take breaks away from each other.

Jada, 39, who has been married to Will for 14 years and has two children, Jaden, 13, and 10-year-old Willow – admits they like to take breaks from each other because they think it makes their relationship stronger.

She says, “It’s always nice to have a little time apart. Sometimes you need that.”

While she and Will sometimes have time apart, Jada says she will always be there for her children as they come before anything.

“There was a time when all I had to worry about was myself. I’d get offers to do things – to go to Bolivia for three months or go to Prague – and now it’s like, I can’t,” says Jada. It’s not about me anymore, it’s about me being there for my kids. And there’s no one else I would leave that job to,” she added.

The Smith children have already started making a name for themselves in the entertainment business.

Son Jaden, 12, has dabbled in music and acting, starring in “The Karate Kid”, while daughter Willow, 10, started a singing career and most recently tore up the music scene with her smash hit, “Whip My Hair.”

She was also sure to mention the controversy she faces from people believing her kids are starting in this fast-paced business too early in their lives.
