Join KISS – FM in congratulating former Petersburg HS / ODU star Mark West who is moving from the front office to the NBA sidelines as an assistant coach with the Phoenix Suns. West led the Crimson Wave to two state championship appearances during his high school career and was among the best defenders in college basketball while at Old Dominion, which led to a long pro career with several NBA clubs.

Mark will join the staff of new Suns Head Coach Jeff Hornacek, who played with West during his days as a guard along side now Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson.

One of the most popular Phoenix Suns on the court, Mark West joined the club’s front office in 2001 and had been the team’s Vice President of Player Programs since March 2006. In his role, West also serves as the team liaison for the NBA Player Development program administered by the league.  Mark was a member of the Suns from 1988-94 and then again in the 1999-2000 season. In addition to his eight-year tenure with Phoenix, West played for Dallas, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Detroit and Indiana.
