Go UVA Cavaliers!

I am Miss Community and proud to report that for the first time in school history, the Virginia Cavaliers are the NCAA men’s basketball champions. Virginia held out the longest on Texas Tech 85-77 in overtime to win the title game in Minneapolis Monday night. DeAndre Hunter led the Cavaliers with 27 points and Kyle Guy scored up 24. Virginia ended the game on a 13-to-4 run to pull out the win. Brandone Francis led the Red Raiders with 17 points off the bench. NBA prospect Jarrett Culver scored 15 points on 5-of-22 shooting in defeat.

Meanwhile, UVA Head Coach Tony Bennett has a powerful message for his team after their major win Monday night in Minneapolis: stay humble and stay thankful. Bennett said he wasn’t crazy about getting into coaching in the first place, and he didn’t really need a win like this. He said while he’s thankful, he hopes a victory like this doesn’t change his players.
