The Ryan Coogler directed film Black Panther picked up the top award at last night’s SAG Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The win also made history. Marking the first time a superhero film was nominated for the top prize and came out victorious.
“To be young, gifted and black. We all know what it’s like to be told there is not a place for you to be featured, yet you are young, gifted, and black.” Boseman said as he spoke for the entire cast. “We know what it’s like to be beneath and not above. That is what we went to work with every day because we knew that we had something special that we wanted to give the world.”
Last night’s win now makes Black Panther a formidable opponent to pick up the Best Picture Oscar at the upcoming Academy Awards. Do you think Black Panther will win the Best Picture award at the Oscars? Were you surprised that the movie won the top award last night?
