Michelle Obama had a miscarriage 20 years ago. She told Good Morning America on Friday, “I felt like I failed because I didn’t know how common miscarriages were because we don’t talk about them. We sit in our own pain, thinking that somehow we’re broken.”
Mrs. Obama said she and Barack Obama went through fertility treatments to conceive their two daughters, Sasha and Malia. This is one of the stories that Obama tells in more depth in her memoir Becoming. It will be released next Tuesday.
