Tracy Chapman is accusing Nicki Minaj of stealing one of her songs. Chapman is suing Minaj for allegedly copying her song, Baby Can I Hold You. The lawsuit says Nicki used the music for her song, Sorry.
TMZ reports Minaj and her team asked Chapman for permission to use the song earlier this year. The request was denied. Sorry leaked out in August and it took major chunks of Baby Can I Hold You.
The song was played on several radio stations but it was never officially released. Minaj tweeted after the song had been leaked, “Sis said no.” Chapman doesn’t want the song to ever be put out by Minaj and is seeking financial compensation.
Not sure why such a fuss was made over getting this song approved when it shouldn’t have even been made at all but….. is it Nicki’s fault if a few radio stations got their hands on the song and played it?
