Even though the league has loosened restrictions on what players can wear on the court, it looks like Kanye West’s Adidas will be placed on the banned list. The Yeezy kicks feature a reflective patch on the heel, which seems to be the main culprit for the coming prohibition.
According to ESPN‘s Nick DePaula, the NBA would have allowed the sneakers if not for the 3M panel, which they “would find potentially distracting for both in-arena spectators and television viewers.” DePaula says the NBA would likely approve the Yeezys if the reflective material is removed in an updated design, which the network reveals is coming in 2019.
