Jamie Foxx will star in a new movie as the anti-hero Spawn. The character is from the 1990’s Todd McFarlane comic. Foxx has been wanting to play Spawn since he portrayed Electro in 2013’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
He went to Arizona a few years ago to tell McFarlane directly about his desire.Foxx said, “He was taken aback when I told him with the enthusiasm of a young child that more than anything I wanted to put my name in the hat to embody his beloved character Spawn. I told him no one would work harder than me if given the opportunity, well the opportunity is here! I’m humbled and ready to transform.”
This isn’t the first time Spawn has been on the big screen. There has been an animated film and a live-action movie starring Michael Jai White was released in 1997.
