All Eyez on Me producer L.T. Hutton is doubling down on the film’s portrayal of Jada Pinkett-Smith and her relationship with Tupac Shakur.

Jada hit Twitter on Friday to publicly discredit the film, branding the biopic as inaccurate and “deeply hurtful.” All Eyez on Me was meant to tell “the true and untold story” of her good friend Pac, but Jada claims there were some major misses.

She tweeted on the day of the film’s release:

Hutton insists the movie got it right and “it all came from the truth,” although he admits he and the filmmakers and producers took some liberties to try and show “who Tupac was, who he wanted to be, and who he had to be to survive the world that he was introduced into.” Hutton believes he did the necessary research, citing old interviews where Jada spoke about Pac. He also says that, thanks to mutual friends, he believed she was fine with the portrayal.
