Dr. Brian Williams, associate professor of surgery at UT Southwestern & trauma surgeon at Parkland Hospital in Dallas was the lead surgeon on call the night of the horrific shooting that left five officers dead.
“I didn’t plan to say anything at the press conference. I had voiced those opinions to colleagues in a safe place but as far as injecting my personal opinions, I didn’t think that was the forum for that. You don’t have to remain silent about how you feel. This issue of racism effects everyone. I commend these young people for standing up because that is something I didn’t do a lot,” Dr. Williams said.
