Vice President Joe Biden and First Lady Michelle Obama will make an appearance at the 2015 Global Citizen Festival in New York City Saturday. “We are truly overwhelmed to have the support of Vice President Joe Biden and the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama. Vice President Biden has been a fierce advocate for America’s leadership role in global development, all the more pertinent on the eve of the launch of the United Nation’s Global Goals. We are thrilled to give the Festival stage to Mrs. Obama on Saturday to tell the world about the Let Girls Learn initiative, and look forward to supporting this historic campaign over the years to come,” said co-founder of the Global Citizen Festival and co-founder of the Global Poverty Project, Hugh Evans, in a statement. The festival, which will take place in Central Park, will be attended by activists, influencers, and music artists including Malala Yousafzai, Mark Zuckerberg, and Beyoncé.


Columbus Short Gets Probation for L.A. Restaurant Fight

Actor Columbus Short’s legal troubles are coming to an end. Short, who starred on ABC’s hit show Scandal, plead no contest in a case surrounding a fight in March of 2014. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Short allegedly hit a man at a Los Angeles restaurant and left him unconscious after an argument ensued between the two. The 33-year-old actor will have to serve three years of probation, 60 days of community service, and complete 26 anger management classes. He will also have to pay restitution. “We came to an agreement with the prosecutor and the court,” said Short’s lawyer, Ludlow B. Creary II. “Now Mr. Short can put this behind him and get on with his life and his career.” Read more.


Kanye West is Serious About Running for President in 2020

When Kanye West shared that he will run for president during the MTV Video Music Awards last month, many people didn’t take him seriously. During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, West said his plans to get into the White House are far from a joke. When asked about his 2020 run, he replied “Oh, definitely.” He then went on to say how serious he was about being president. “I didn’t approach that because I thought it would be fun. It wasn’t like, ‘Oh, let’s go rent some jet skis in Hawaii,’” he said. “No, the exact opposite. I sit in clubs and I’m like, ‘Wow, I’ve got five years before I go and run for office and I’ve got a lot of research to do, I’ve got a lot of growing up to do.’” Read more.
