Petersburg City Mayor W. Howard Myers has accepted the 100-Day Challenge, an initative out of Governor Terry McAuliffe’s office to eradicate homelessness among our veteran population in 100 days.

During an interview with Radio One Richmond personality Miss Community Clovia, Mayor Myers accepts the challenge and invites his fellow Chairs in the Crater Planning District to join the effort led by the Department of Veteran Services.

Mayor Myers and the Petersburg Freedom Support Center began the initiative that started on August 3, 2015 through November 10, 2015. This entails jurisdictions from the City of Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, county of Dinwiddie, Hopewell, Surry and down to Emporia, Virginia.

The Freedom Support Center is Mayor Myers major initiative that provide all the applicable service providers that assist veterans and their families, as well as, active duty men and women, and reservist.

The Petersburg Freedom Support Center is located 32 West Washington, Petersburg, VA and is open daily Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m to 5:00 p.m. On Wednesday, August 26, 2015, the center will provide focused wrap around services to persons who are homeless and creating opportunities at a fast pace to move them from homelessness. Miss Community Clovia and Rolling For Freedom-R4F will assist veterans with voter registration, voter education and restoration of rights for felony offenses on August 26, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
