A year ago, when Kordale (pictured far left) and Kaleb Lewis (far right, above) posted an Instagram photo (see below) of them coiffing the hair of their three young children, little did they ever fathom that this run-of-the-mill pic would go viral. The photos caused a groundswell of opinions — both good and bad — about the married dads and their three biological daughters, who all live together in Fairburn, Georgia.

A year later, the couple is now the new face of the global camera manufacturer, Nikon, who selected them to star in their “I Am Generation Image” campaign, according to WSB-TV.

Kordale and Kaleb, who are very involved in Atlanta’s LGBTQ community, say that they just wanted to point out that they lead normal familial lives and being gay makes them no different.

The dads are still dazed by how just one Instagram photo radically changed their lives, boosting them to quasi celebrity status telling WSB-TV, “In the picture we captioned (that) this is us every day getting up at 5:30 am in the morning and getting ready for school. And it was a simple innocent picture,” the couple said. “Next thing you know, it went viral and I’m still amazed today, ‘Why did this picture go viral?’”

The two-minute commercial takes viewers through the Lewis’ everyday normal and sometimes hectic morning routine: making sure that their two daughters, ages 8 and 7, and their 6-year-old son are ready for the day.  “We just want people to know that, ‘Hey, we’re normal,’ and you can’t judge people on their normal. You really can’t,” Kaleb and Kordale told the news outlet.

The Nikon commercial captures the Lewis family going through their morning rituals, and a voiceover is heard stating, “Parents that can get up at 5:30 and do their daughters’ hair no matter who they are, that’s a family.”

The doting dads were given a Nikon camera to capture moments in their everyday lives and the photos are featured in a gallery on the Nikon “I am Generation Image” website.
