Donny Edward Hathaway (October 1, 1945 – January 13, 1979) born i Chicago, Il., was an American jazz, blues, soul, and gospel vocalist and musician. His collaborations withRoberta Flack scored high on the charts and won him a Grammy for the song “Where Is The Love.”

On January 13, 1979, Hathaway’s body was found outside the Essex House, a luxury hotel in New York City and his death was ruled a suicide.
