For the Washington Washington Football Team, their season-opening loss to Philadelphia was an eye-opener as well, and now things get no easier with a date Sunday at Green Bay, where Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are also coming off of a loss at San Francisco. Needless to say, neither team wants to go 0 – 2 because history has proven that it’s virtually impossible to make the NFL Playoffs following an 0 – 2 start. High expectations are a given in Green Bay, but those expectations were extra-large in DC where fans have been drooling for the return of QB Robert Griffin III, so the thought of being 0 – 2 didn’t even exist before the season, and now it’s a very real possibility.
A huge Sunday for Richmond’s Russell Wilson, who led Seattle to a season-opening win at Carolina and now faces their arch-rivals in the NFC West, the San Francisco 49ers. Certainly the winner has the upper hand in that division and the games with St. Louis and Arizona will be no cakewalk either. The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a similar position, 0 – 1 with a road game against a team on the rise, the Cincinnati Bengals. Injury and defections have cost the Steelers dearly and it could be a long season in the Steel City.
A Family Reunion in New York Sunday as the Mannings hook up at Met Life Stadium featuring brothers Peyton and Eli in a family football feud. The Denver Broncos visit the New York Giants in what could be the best game of the day. The Dallas Cowboys should beat Kansas City, but the Chiefs new head coach Andy Reid, who was the Eagles coach for many years, has more victories over Dallas than any other current coach, which means the Boyz must beware. QB Tony Romo has bruised ribs but is still expected to play.
