The 2013 College Football season is less than two weeks away and local teams will waste no time jumping right into the thick of the action as the CIAA season cranks up with both Virginia State and Virginia Union opening on the road.  The Trojans will kick off the new season under new Head Coach Latrell Scott on September 7th at Fayetteville State.  Trojan fans have great expectations for 2013 with a fresh start under Scott.  The Panthers will spend opening day at the Beach, that’s Daytona Beach, the home of Bethune-Cookman, a MEAC opponent.  Union also opens on September 7th.

Speaking of the MEAC, Norfolk State opens at home on August 31st against the University of Maine, while the Pirates of Hampton University will travel to Western Illinois for an August 29th (Thursday) game.  Here in the 804, the Spiders of the University of Richmond take the field on August 31st against rival Virginia Military Institute, and in ACC action, UVA will begin the 2013 season in Charlottesville on the same date against Brigham Young University.  The Hokies of Virginia Tech have the toughest assignment in the country, playing the nation’s No. 1 ranked team, the Alabama Crimson Tide, on August 31st at the Georgia Dome.
