Danica Miller, an award-winning teacher, was arrested on June 21, 2013 and may face possible drunk driving charges.

She received an award for teaching excellence in 2011 for her contributions at Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond.

Miller is still “on the job” at Thomas Jefferson according to reports from Richmond School leaders.

She was caught going 61 mph in a 40 mph zone and was behind the wheel of the car.

When police arrested her, they said that she had “slurred speech” and noticed “a strong smell of alcohol.” It was reported that she refused a sobriety test. She now faces charges of DWI, refusal of blood or breath test, and speeding.

Miller is set to be in court near the end of this month.
