A host of celebs having birthday parties this weekend, perhaps the biggest will be for Pop icon Prince, who turns 56 years old on Friday, June 7th. Although he’s curtailed his performances and recording career, he remains one of America’s all-time favorite entertainers. Also celebrating on Friday is Hampton native and former NBA All-Star Allen Iverson, who turns 39, LaFace Records mogul and producer L. A. Reid is 58 on that date.
Celebrating on Saturday, June 8th is Hip-Hop star Kanye West, who’s more in the headlines from his marriage to wifey Kim Kardashian than for his music of late, but Kanye turns 36. Actor / Producer Keenan Ivory Wayans, leader of that talented entertainment family of Wayans’ and creator of the hilarious “In Living Color” TV series, is 55 on Saturday, and Blues/Rock singer Boz Skaggs, who gave the “Dirty Lowdown” years ago, celebrates his 69th birthday.
On Sunday, June 9th, Actress / Gospel singer Tamela Mann, who was with us for Stone Soul 2013, will turn 47. Her current hit single “Take Me To The King” is perhaps one of the biggest songs of the year. Pastor T. D. Jakes will celebrate his 56th birthday on Sunday, while veteran coach and ESPN analyst Dick Vitale will be 79 years old. Sunday will also mark the birthday of the late great R & B singer Jackie Wilson, better known to the entertainment world as “Mr. Excitement”.
