BACKGROUND-articleLarge-v3According to sources, a bipartisan deal to expand background checks for gun sales has been reached in the Senate. The deal reached is a compromise on expanding background checks on firearms buyers to include gun shows and Internet sales.

The compromise negotiated by Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) and Republican Sen. Pat Toomey (Pa.) is expected to be introduced Thursday as an amendment to a Senate gun control bill that Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) filed for cloture Tuesday night.
