Rather than pay the cost of court or other related fines, the Homeowners Association of the Retreat at Twin Lakes has settled a wrongful death lawsuit with the parents of Trayvon Martin. The estimated settlement is just over 1-million dollars. The settlement comes one-year after Martin was gunned down by Neighborhood Watchman George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida. Zimmerman will stand trial in June.

Sybrina Fulton, the mother of the late Trayvon Martin, filed paperwork last August to jumpstart a lawsuit against the insurance company for the Retreat at Twin Lakes homeowners association, seeking monetary damages in the death of her then 17-year-old son within the gates of the townhome community.

In the documents, Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America is seeking clarification of its responsibilities in Trayvon’s and requested the judge to strike down any chance of the company having liability in the case.
