With the excitement of March Madness just a few weeks away, the VCU Rams continue to roll following a big road win on Saturday at Charlotte. The win improves the the Rams to 19 – 5 in their first season as Atlantic-10 members, and despite the change of landscape, VCU has remained a strong foe for any opponent and remain tied for first place in the A-10 with 11th-ranked Butler. The Rams will entertain UMass on Wednesday night at the Siegal Center.

In the CIAA, Virginia State had the opportunity to begin their own winning streak against arch-rival Virginia Union after suffering 11 straight years of defeat before the Trojans big win in January’s Freedom Classic. However, VSU was not up to the task, and the Panthers went on to win the rematch Saturday night at VCU, locking Union into a tie for second place in the CIAA Northern Division. The CIAA Tournament opens on February 26th in Charlotte, NC, and the Panthers are right in the thick of the race for the division title.

The Spartans of Norfolk State University continue to run rampant through the MEAC, going 10 – 0 in the league following a weekend romp over Delaware State. The Spartans have won nine straight games to improve to 15 – 10 with a date tonight at home vs Maryland-Eastern Shore. Hampton University also on a slight win streak after a road win at Savannah State, the Pirates have won four in a row.
