It’s interesting that Harry Belafonte’s been ranting about the social responsibility of superstars like Beyonce when it seems the “Countdown” singer is offering a helping hand to heal the world. Beyonce’s been named the Ambassador for World Humanitarian Day 2012.
Beyonce stopped by the United Nations General Assembly Hall yesterday to meet with General Secretary Ban Ki Moon to discuss her role and how to advance the cause. According to the site, Beyonce wants to celebrate those that help people. The entire day will honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and tribute is paid to those who continue to help people around the world, regardless of who they are and where they are.
Beyonce will be filming a video for the cause, using her song, “I Was Here.”

Maybe Harry Belafonte is just wondering if Beyonce is simply the face of World Humanitarian Day or is she actually helping people?
