A gunman entered the Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, just south of Milwaukee on Sunday and opened fire on worshippers who were in the temple preparing for their services. Police say Wade Michael Page, an Army veteran believed to be a “Skin-Head” or a white supremacist, is alleged to have killed six people, and wounded three others before being shot to death by police.
Authorities say they have not yet uncovered a motive for the killings but are treating the incident as an episode of domestic terrorism. Page was reportedly dismissed from the Army with a dishonorable discharge for misconduct in 1998, but had no criminal record while in uniform. This is just the latest tragedy in which a gunman has caught his victims totally off-guard and went on a shooting rampage, the last being the Aurora, Colorado movie murders.
