The Williams sisters have won every tennis event imaginable, many times over, and the Olympic Games are no stranger to Venus and Serena as well. So it should be no surprise the sisters just breezed through the Doubles competition with relative ease in these 2012 Summer Olympic Games, winning the Gold Medal in that event over the weekend.    Serena, who put on an awesome display of how to overpower an opponent, just destroyed Russuia’s Maria Sharapova 6 – 0. 6 – 1 in the Gold Medal match to complete what is being labeled as the ” Golden Slam “.

Serena becomes only the second woman to win the Wimbledon crown and a Gold Medal in the Olympics in the same year.   To Serena;s credit, she won both on the same stage, Centre Court at the All-England Lawn & Tennis Club.  Meanwhile, Venus had been on a roll as well but was knocked off in the 3rd round of single’s play. Venus has already won three  Olympic Gold medals.
