Former NFL wide receiever Terrell Owens is again facing a jail sentence after he failed to make his child support payments in a timely fashion. Owens owes $20,000 in back child support in Atlanta and reportedly angered the judge by failing to appear for a court hearing on Thursday. T. O.’s attorney, David Hartin, tried to create cover for Owens by explaining that he had failed to communicate with his client concerning the court date. The judge however, is not amused.

Melanie Smith, mother of Owens’ 7-year-old daughter, says he hasn’t made a payment in months and this is her third time filing papers against the ex-NFL star. Owens hasn’t played in the NFL since 2010 and was recently released from a contract with a Texas indoor football team after failing to live up to team expectations and responsibilities. He still ranks second all-time in receiving yards in NFL history but has basically been cast off as done by most teams around the league.
