Former Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams has landed a new record deal with gospel label Light Records. Williams is now working on her 3rd gospel album in 5 years. It is scheduled to be released in January 2013.
James Robinson, President of Light Records, said, “It’s an honor to work with an icon like Michelle Williams and her team.”
“As a fan of her other two inspirational projects, I was drawn to Michelle’s comfort, confidence and genuineness. With her pure heart for God and people, our goal is to continue her brand of love, faith and encouragement through song, Robinson continued.
Michelle added, “I am very excited to partner with Light/eOne. I am honored to follow in the footsteps of Light Record legends, The Winans and Andrae Crouch. When I was a little girl I would listen to them and to be on the same label they once were is amazing! Light/eOne has been very supportive of my vision to inspire and give hope through my music.”
Michelle later tweeted her excitement saying, I’m so excited about this new venture! I’ve accepted what my purpose is….I have peace about it! Discover your purpose luvz!!
This new release will be Williams’ first album since dumping Beyonce’s father Mathew Knowles as her manager in 2010.
And if working on new music isn’t enough to keep her busy, Michelle is also designing clothes now.
She also tweeted, Bout to hop on a design call w/Koshie O. Designing some new clothes…..line will be out next Spring. This is a Collaboration for charity!
