Pilar Sanders, wife of former NFL star Deion Sanders, was released from the Colin County jail in Dallas after being held overnight.
Pilar Michelle Sanders was charged with assault family violence, after reportedly “attacking” her husband in the home they still share Monday night. Police arrested her at the scene.
According to Deion, the attack occurred as soon as he returned from spending time with his friend Tracey Edmonds (ex-wife of R&B singer “Babyface” Edmonds).
Deion tweeted that he had just gotten jumped by Pilar & her friends, then tweeted a photo of him and their sons filling out a police report.
Late Tuesday morning, Pilar was seen leaving the jail facilities and visibly shaken up. She denies ever attacking Deion, but the magistrate judge still ordered her to stay away from the couple’s suburban mansion for the next 60 days.
“I am innocent… I understand that I have very little chance at beating a hall of fame, two-sport man that everyone seems to love and adore. I’m a full time mom, 100 percent for my children and I just haven’t been given a fair shake…I would never give up fighting for my children and their protection,” Pilar said, with her voice breaking as she was released.
Meanwhile, Deion took to Twitter again with a pic of him and his kids smiling, saying “Smile if u know God is good! We’re smiling baby. Joy came this morning and we opened the door and let Joy in.”
Larry Friedman, Pilar Sanders’ divorce attorney, said that he can’t comment about her arrest because there is a gag order in place. He did say in a statement, “I can tell you that there are two sides to every story and the truth will come out in court.”
Late Tuesday afternoon, cops charged Deion Sanders with misdemeanor simple assault. But police say that charge does not warrant an arrest.
Sources say, the charge against Sanders is one that covers “any act considered aggressive and could be as simple as touching or defensively jerking away from someone’s grip.” So it seems like a technicality.
Deion and Pilar are currently going through an extra bitter divorce.
