The WNBA Draft 2012 was held on Monday and to no one’s surprise, the Los Angeles Sparks used the No. 1 pick to select Stanford’s post player Nneka Ogwumike. The 6-2 All-American has led Stanford to the Final Four in all four of her years with the Cardinal, and she joins an already talented LA team in the frontcourt.

Meanwhile, VCU star Courtney Hurt was selected in the 3rd round by the Indiana Fever, although many thought she might go much higher. Courtney was All-Colonial First Team again this season and led the Lady Rams in points, rebounds, and she’s been an academic standout as well, all while averaging 22 ppg and gaining Honorable mention for All-American status.
