The search for possible victims in the crash of the Navy fighter jet that crashed into a Virginia Beach apartment complex continued into Friday evening. The two pilots of the jet, which flew out of the nearby Oceana Naval Air Station, were both ejected and sustained only minor injuries. There were injuries on the ground as eight people were reportedly injured, but none life-threatening.
It’s a miracle that no fatalities have been reported as firefighters and emergency personel continued their search of the charred premises looking for persons who may or may not be accounted for. In the meantime, the Navy is investigating the crash in hopes finding out why this occurred just minutes from the base. Although the residents in the Mayfair Mews Apartments are routinely accustomed to the jets flying over, many are shocked by this incident.
